The Ku Klux Klan
The Ku Klux Klan is a combination of three past organizations that represent and promote white-supremacy, nationalism, and anti-immigration. Upon hearing the words "Ku Klux Klan" (often abbreviated as KKK), their first thoughts are a racist organization that is willing to go to great, violent lengths in order to ensure white-supremacy, and although this is not entirely false, the KKK is more about non-violent protests to get their message across. Throughout the history of the Klan, there has been countless violent acts against colored people(s) that have altered the underlying outlook upon the KKK. Believe it or not, there have been two KKK clans. First appearing in the early 1860's, the original clan believed to have died-down by the very early 1870's, but was sparked again by 1921. Sporting white robes and pointy, white hats, the Klan adapted this clothing in hopes to strike fear into anyone that were to go against their beliefs. The Klan still lives to this day, though it is not as widespread and violent as it was in the early 20th century.
